Everything you need to know about getting started with Mind Games Trivia.

Getting Started

You get a full Windows software application that runs on your laptop or PC, plus one new game download per week. Each game includes 4 rounds of 5 questions each, themed images for the audience screen, and background music — everything you need to run a complete, professional trivia night.
You need a Windows PC or laptop (Windows 10 or later) and a way to project to a second screen — either an HDMI cable to a TV or monitor, or a wireless connection like Chromecast or Miracast. That's it. Most hosts already have everything they need. A basic laptop and any bar TV is all it takes.
Mind Games Trivia is currently a Windows-only application. It requires Windows 10 or later. If you only have a Mac, you can run it via Parallels or Boot Camp, but we recommend using a Windows machine for the best experience.
No — the software and game files run completely offline. You download each week's games ahead of time and they run locally on your machine. The only thing that requires internet is posting final scores to the league leaderboard at MindGamesTrivia.com, which can be done after you leave the venue.
Submit your info through our contact form and we'll get you set up with a download link for the software and an authorization code to unlock game downloads — completely free, no credit card required. At the end of 30 days, you can subscribe for $149/month and we'll send you a new authorization code to continue. Walk away with no obligation if it's not for you — we're confident once you run your first trivia night you'll be hooked.

The Games

Each game has 4 rounds of 5 questions each, for 20 questions total. This format is designed for a fast-paced, engaging experience that keeps players energized without dragging on too long. Most games run 60–90 minutes depending on your pace and how much crowd interaction you add.
Each game features a mix of categories including general knowledge, pop culture, sports, history, entertainment, and current events. The round themes vary from game to game so players always experience something fresh. You can also access our growing archive of 10,000+ questions for unlimited variety.
No. Each game is date-stamped on the server and only available to download starting at 12:01am on the day it's scheduled. Downloading a new game automatically overwrites the previous one in the software — so there's no building up a library of old games. This keeps every trivia night genuinely fresh and ensures your players can never come in having already seen the questions.
Every question includes host notes that support the correct answer, along with verified sources cited right there in the software. Your host always has the backup to confidently handle any challenge from the crowd. We've been writing and running live trivia professionally since 2018 — we know what makes a good question and we stand behind every one.

Scoring & League Play

Players answer questions on paper slips and bring them to the host at the end of each round. The host enters scores into the dashboard and they display on the audience screen in real time. The paper answer format keeps phones away and gets players talking to each other — which is exactly what makes a great trivia night.
After each game, final scores post to MindGamesTrivia.com where players can see weekly and all-time standings. Teams compete for the top spot on the leaderboard, which gives them a compelling reason to come back every week. League play is one of the most powerful tools for building a loyal, regular trivia night crowd.
No account required to view the leaderboard — scores are public. For players who want to track their own history and compete in the ranked system, they can create a free account at MindGamesTrivia.net, our companion player app.

Yes — one software license runs on one machine, but that machine can be used at multiple venues across the week. The key is matching your subscription tier to the number of nights you're hosting. If you run trivia at two different venues each week, you'd need the 2-night plan. Three venues, the 3-night plan. The software and your authorization code travel with you — just bring your laptop to each venue.
No. Mind Games Trivia is month-to-month. You can cancel anytime with no penalties. We believe in earning your business every month with great content and support — not locking you in.
